San Diego Padres star outfielder Jackson Merrill is staying with the Padres until at least 2034 after he signed a 9 year $135 million contract. Taking a deal like this tells me two things. One, he loves baseball. Two, he is exactly who he says he is. He didn’t hold the team hostage. He wants to play on a team with stars and he wants to make a little money in the meantime. San Diego needs a guy like this and Jackson Merrill is someone kids can look up to.
